According to this story, the Viking robots that landed on Mars in 1976 found life, and this fact was discovered from "new analysis." It seems like this story seems like it should be getting more attention than it is. One of the commentors mentioned that it could be a ploy to get more funding for NASA, but I think it's a big deal no matter what the motivation behind releasing this information now would be.
