Once moved in, whispering voices lure Sally into the dark hellish basement promising friendship and understanding. Sally soon realizes that the creatures she has befriended, have nothing but evil intensions. All the while, Alex and Kim are reluctant to believe her.
'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' (2010) stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce, and Bailee Madison.
Personally, I love this type of movie. Family moves into house, kid knows it's haunted, parents don't believe them, and then some people die... Sure, it has been done a thousand times before, but as long as it gives me a scare or a laugh I am okay with it. Besides, anyone who likes horror flicks is used to seeing the same thing over and over.
Being directed by Troy Nixey and having some A-list actors, didn't hurt any. But like with any horror movie, its value is based on its story and effects. The story was medicore and the effects were decent, but combined, they worked well enough for me. I say it is worth watching.
